Our Company in the Age of the Coronavirus
It is encouraging to see people coming together to assist in our current world health crisis. As an effort to contribute to the welfare of our front line health care workers, we have become a Coalition Partner for the “Waco Masks Seamstress for COVID-C-19”. We have repurposed our shop to make Sanitary Masks, and have currently donated over 150 masks to the group for distribution to local hospitals, clinics and nonprofits, as well for our family and friends.
Because the current recommendation is for everyone to wear a mask when out in public, we have started to offer these masks for sale on the website at an affordable price. Most of the masks are four layers of cotton, with a pocket that allows for an additional filter insert (some of the nurses are using coffee filters). We also designed a lightweight mask for people who work outside in the warm weather; this mask does not provide the same degree of filtration as the masks we donate to the hospitals, but the two layers of cotton allows for better breathability while decreasing the chance of spreading the virus.
Our deepest condolences to everyone who has lost someone to the virus. Only by following the recommendations of our Health Professionals and scientists will we be able to put this behind us. In the meantime, remember the ones you love. I am posting pictures of family and friends, hopefully to show how life can go on in these troubling times.
